iTunes 4.9 with podcasting support

Apple has released iTunes 4.9, with a new podcasting feature. This feature was promised last month by Apple CEO Steve Jobs at D: All Things Digital Last month.

Using iTunes 4.9 you can now browse, subscribe and listen to podcasts. Podcast is different from internet Radio station. Radio is streamed over the Internet while Podcasts are downloaded into your computer.

Because they are downloaded into your computer, you can transfer the podcast episodes to an iPod. Let’s explore this new podcasting feature in iTunes.

A new podcast link is available on the left side of the main page. On this page you can view the list of podcasts you subscribed to. There is also a link at the bottom to visit the podcast directory and report a concern.

Clicking on the Podcast directory allows you to browse for podcasts at the iTunes Music Store, clicking on a podcast will bring you to the podcast description page with information such as the Name of the program, the Artist, and also a button allowing you to subscribe.

Even though podcasting does not require iTunes or iPod, iTunes 4.9 definitely makes it easier for me to browse for podcasts. Go download iTunes 4.9 at Apple iTunes site »
